We'd like to thank all of the engaged couples who entered this year's 6th annual "I Do with Mirassou" contest - and all of you who came back to Mirassou.com between July 16 and August 8, 2010 to vote for your favorite couple.
The votes have been tallied, and this year's Grand Prize winner is:
Tara Miller from Seattle, WA
Tara, who submitted the following contest entry, received the most votes of all five finalists. She and her fiancé also created three videos to encourage people to vote for them.
Read about Tara & Alexander's celebratory moment that inspired joy and led to their engagement:
When my fiancé, Alexander, and I were unable to get down to Portland to celebrate Pasxa (Greek Easter) with his family, I decided to recreate it in Seattle. Together we made a Greek feast from family recipes and invited our friends over to share in this tradition. It was incredibly special to get to continue his family's traditions in our own way and get to celebrate over good food and wine with our friends! We celebrated our ability to create this wonderful feast, as well as being able to continue the traditions of our parents and communities. I believe this beginning of our own traditions led to our engagement, as well as the fact that I could make a pretty good lamb roast on my first try!
This year's Grand Prize winner will receive $10,000, a trip to San Francisco and northern California wine country, and a private consultation with Food Network Chef Aida Mollenkamp and 6th generation of America's oldest winemaking family David Mirassou to plan a custom wedding menu.
In the meantime, enjoy the many great recipes, food and wine pairings, tips for choosing wine for your wedding and entertaining ideas right here at Mirassou.com.
